Roberta Morrell, singer, actress, director, author and principal with
the famed D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in England, is returning!
These popular workshops will be held January 14 – 23,
2012, at West Chester University, School of Music, West
Chester, PA,
and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, West Chester.
INDIVIDUAL MASTER CLASSES: COST $65
Includes 40 minute performance slot, DVD of the slot, and observation
of the three other individual performance slots in the same session.
Each 3 hour session will be made up of four, 40 minute Individual
Performance Slots.

Excellent for fine tuning your audition or performance skills. Solos,
duets, trios and quartets from any genre—Gilbert & Sullivan, opera,
musical theater, etc. — are welcome. Also welcome are monologues –and
5-minute scenes by both singers and non-singers alike.
It
is recommended that performers be entirely off-book for the performance
slot. Bring two photocopies of your music—one for the pianist and one
for Miss Morrell—and/or a photocopy of your monologue/play scene.
Advance registration is required for performers. Space is limited, so please sign up early.
GROUP WORKSHOP: $25.00 per person
Saturday, Jan. 21, 9AM to Noon.
For both principals and chorus members who want to improve performance proficiency. Guaranteed to be fun!
OBSERVERS: $10.00 per session
For
observers: The Group Workshop Session and all of the Master Classes are
open for observation at a fee of $10 per person per session. (Each
session comprises four individual master classes.)
Reservations are suggested but not required to observe the master classes and the group workshop

Carte Opera Company in England will be giving Performance Master
Classes in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
This
high-energy week of master classes is sponsored by the Gilbert
& Sullivan Society of Chester County, who are importing Miss
Morrell direct from England. Amateurs and professionals, youngsters
through seniors, will all find great gratification in these classes.
On
completing her singing studies at the Royal College of Music,
London, Roberta Morrell joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1972
and remained until the closure in 1982. She toured twice in North
America and was part of a tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1979.
Since 1982 when the D'Oyly Carte closed its doors, Miss Morrell has
worked as a freelance performer and director, and has staged over 80
operettas and musicals, both in the UK and the USA, where her skills in
teaching both stage and dialogue techniques is renowned. She also
appears with and directs 'The Magic of Gilbert and Sullivan' company at
concert halls throughout Britain. Recently she directed the
Philadelphia Savoy Company’s productions of "The PIrates of Penzance"
and “Ruddigore”.
