Julie May (Katisha)

Julie's love of theatre goes back to her childhood in Washington DC where she was enthralled by its magic at an early age. Marriage and family kept her from the boards until 1994 when she decided that it was time to fulfill a life long dream. She joined GSSCC then and hasn't looked back since. She has been privileged to perform not only many G&S mezzo roles, Phoebe from Yeomen of the Guard and Mad Margaret from Ruddigore being two of her favorites, but also that wonderful soprano diva Julia Jellicoe in The Grand Duke. She has served on the Board in many capacities over the years and has been producer of numerous shows. She has also expanded her theatrical endeavors into directing: HMS Pinafore for both Thespis Etc, in Media, and The Ardensingers, in Arden, DE, Trial by Jury for GSSCC, Patience for Thespis, Etc, and in 2007 will direct Iolanthe at the International G&S festival in Buxton England for the newly formed Philadelphia G&S Union. She is soloist at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in West Chester, and has performed in concerts in the area, most recently the Mozart Requiem, with the Ardensingers. She is indeed a "maid of all work".
