John has performed and recorded with some of the finest opera companies, orchestras and
chamber groups in the world. A recording of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo with John as baritone
soloist performing with The New York City Opera Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski is
being released this fall. With the London Symphony Orchestra, he toured Italy as soloist
in Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
In England, he has performed with the recently formed professional "Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company" and participated in a gala concert of all D'Oyly Carte Opera principals at the Buxton music festival. John has now been performing leading roles in Gilbert and Sullivan productions for 50 years.
His performances with the Chester County Gilbert and Sullivan Society include principal roles in Utopia and the title role in Thespis, both in the U.S. and at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in England. For the 100th anniversary of the Savoy Opera Company, he played the role of Lord Mountararat in Iolanthe and appeared in the Gala Concert at the Mann Center with members of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Last May, he appeared as the Major-General in The Pirates of Penzance in the OperaDelaware production.
John currently holds the position of bass soloist at the Arch Street United Methodist Church in Philadelphia. With the Vox Ama Deus ensemble, he recently appeared as bass aria soloist in Bach's St. Matthew Passion performed on period instruments at the Kimmel Center.
