Soprano Julie
Bishop holds bachelors and masters degrees from Susquehanna
University
and Temple
University,
respectively, and is
currently completing her final semester of doctoral studies in voice
performance at Temple. An active participant in
Temple’s opera productions,
Ms. Bishop has performed the roles of Susanna in Le nozze di
Figaro,
Clori in L’Egisto, Zerlina in Don Giovanni,
and White Dove in the
world premiere of Violet Fire.
She
has also performed Belinda in Dido and Aeneas with
Intermezzo Opera, as
well as Angelina in Trial By Jury and Pitti-Sing in
The Mikado,
both with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Chester
County. A proponent of
contemporary music, Ms. Bishop
has sung del Tredici’s Dracula, Berio's O
King, and Schoenberg’s String
Quartet No. 2 with Temple’s chamber ensembles, and recently
premiered
Matthew Greenbaum’s Nameless in New York City. She has appeared three
times as a featured
artist with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and has performed the
soprano
solos in Fauré's Requiem, Haydn’s Creation,
and Britten’s Ceremony
of Carols. Ms.
Bishop is a member of
the adjunct music faculties at Temple
and Widener
Universities. |
