Bruce Montgomery (Stage Director)
|
The Associated Press called Bruce a "whirlwind of musical and artistic
involvements." President Ronald Reagan congratulated him "on the artistry
that has become synonymous with his role as Director" of the Penn Glee Club.
President Bill Clinton applauded him for his "lifetime of
accomplishments." Even the Governor of Guam named him Honorary
Ambassador-At-Large! There is no easy way to itemize Bruce's credentials as
a composer, actor, narrator, entertainer, painter, sculptor, book
illustrator, author, reviewer, music director and stage director. Many in
our audience know him as the stage director for about ten of our major
productions; many others, including some in this company, for his long
tenure with the University of Pennsylvania's performing organizations. One
of America's leading authorities on Gilbert & Sullivan, Bruce has directed
and played leading roles in all the G&S operas. Now that he is retired from
Penn and has so much free time, perhaps he will be putting more effort into
his hobbies as a history buff, sailboat crewman, world traveler, commercial
artist, lyricist, member of the Baker Street Irregulars of New York and
gourmet cook.
